That part which requires me to state the proportion according to old or previous scale, I have not filled up in the hope that the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies will be pleased, in consideration of my long services in a Colony known to be unhealthy to European constitutions, and further the proportional small emoluments received by me, to recommend their Lordships the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, that my case may be considered a special one, and that they may grant me the average salary which I should have received during the last three years as per supplementary Statement and which I believe myself to be fully entitled to by a few months more service.
